My name is Megan Sullivan and as an Athletic Therapist and Fascial Stretch Therapist, I have treated countless people who want to golf, ski, run, and, hike, but they have an injury or pain that prevents them from doing what they love. Currently, I operate my own clinic called Ossum Wellness in Hamilton, Ontario where I treat individuals of all ages to help them rehabilitate their injuries, improve their mobility through Fascial Stretch Therapy and help them reach their goals, no matter how big or small they may be.

Previously, I worked in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger Cats for three seasons where I got to be actively involved with hundreds of injuries from the time it happened, to executing the rehabilitation program, and eventually helping them get back to the field as safely and efficiently as possible.I also am the author of two books sold on Amazon: The All-in-One Golf Strength & Flexibility Guide and The All-in-One Shoulder Injury Prevention Guide.

Are there activities or sports you would love to get back to but are unsure where to begin? Are you worried about a past injury flaring up and/or don’t have the confidence to start a new activity?

I have seen this countless times over the years and the best advice I could give is to just start moving! Whether it is walking more, stretching more or doing a few minutes of exercise per day. The key is to start small and gradually build up. If there is an activity or movement that you have not done in a very long time, take baby steps!

For instance, if your goal is to run 10 km but you have not run in three years, don’t try and run that distance your first time out. Try a walk-run program and maybe go out for 10-15 minutes for your first time. If your body responds well, you can gradually run farther as you reach your goal!

The goal for all of my clients is to build them a routine designed to meet their goals. As they become stronger and more flexible, they are able to participate in more activities confidently and pain-free and feel safe doing so!

If this sounds like you, I encourage you to start moving! This could be through some athletic therapy sessions or simply trying some stretching or strength sessions throughout your day.

Book in with your local Athletic Therapist and get back to the activities and sports you enjoy most stronger and more confident than ever.
